HR Florida is honored to have Tony Hsieh (pronounced ‘shay’) as one of our key note speakers for the 2011 Conference & Expo from August 29th – 31st. He is the CEO of the online shoe store Zappos.com, which we all can’t get enough of, and the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling book Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profit, Passion and Purpose.
Tony is an entrepreneur who, through revolutionary approaches to marketing, human resources and customer service has earned Zappos.com the #6 spot on Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work for in 2011; that’s up from number 15 in 2010. Zappos has earned this recognition as a result of the company’s quirky and happy culture in which some of the perks include free lunches, no-charge vending machines and a full-time life coach on hand. Tony is dedicated to ‘living’ the company values which include ‘create fun and a little weirdness.’
Through Tony’s willingness to share his philosophy and business best practices, Zappos was inspired to launch Zappos Insights. This program takes companies and/or individuals through a 1-day or 2-day boot camp that teaches us how to develop a strong culture where people love to work and want to deliver service that WOWs the customer. This program has received national recognition from the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News and Smart Money.
Tony had so much fun writing his book, Delivering Happiness, that he created the Delivering Happiness team who took to the road last year on a 20+ city bus tour with one mission in mind to Inspire and Be Inspired. The Delivering Happiness Bus Tour made a few stops in Florida which included a visit to Miami and my home city of Tampa, where I got to witness the tour with my good friends and fellow council members Carol McDaniel and Lori Goldsmith. After reading Tony’s book and attending his event, we all agreed that we had to secure him for our annual conference.
We are very excited to be providing an opportunity for our attendees to listen to Tony as a keynote where they will be able to take away best practices to help make a difference in their own lives and/or workplace. Tony is an incredible addition to our 2011 Conference & Expo and we are very happy to have him.
